Professor of Political Science at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. He has been a Visiting Professor and Fellow at many European academic institutions. His research focuses on the implications of governance transformations for democracy and accountability. His most recent books include «Democracy in Crisis? Politics, Governance and Policy» (Palgrave, 2013) and «Accountability and European Governance» (co-edited with Deirdre Curtin and Peter Mair; Routledge, 2012).

Director of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne and Professor of Sociology at the University of Cologne. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics and a member of the Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the Academia Europaea.
The economic and financial crisis that began in 2008 continues to cause friction in the world. The seriousness of the situation is matched by the lack of widespread understanding of current events, as well as their origins. Wolfgang Streeck places the crisis in the context of the long neoliberal transformation of post-war capitalism that began in the 70s. Streeck analyses the subsequent tensions and conflicts involving states, governments, voters and capitalist interests, expressed in inflation, public debt and rising private debt.

A political scientist with a PhD in Comparative Politics from the University of Lisbon, she studies how political institutions and citizens interact in the new digital age. Her research interests include the relationship between parliaments and citizens, political parties, political attitudes and behaviour and the quality of democracy. She is an assistant researcher at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences and currently a FLAD visiting professor at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Her work has been published in several academic journals, such as «Policy & Internet», «Party Politics» and the «Journal of Legislative Studies».

Professor at the Department of Geography and Regional Planning at Nova School of Social Sciences and Humanities in Lisbon and researcher at the CICS.NOVA Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on topics such as desertification, climate change and natural disasters. She is a member of the National Commission to Combat Desertification and the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.

She completed her degree in Clinical Psychology in 1990 and her PhD in Social Psychology in 2004, at ISCTE-IUL and the Faculty of Magisterium of the University of Bologna. She has published scientific articles in national and international journals.
She is also a psychotherapist and family and couple therapist.

He is 46 years old, has a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences from Universidade Lusófona and has been a journalist since 1999. He worked in the newsrooms at the Euronotícias, Independente, Expresso and Sol newspapers. He was editorial director and deputy director of the i newspaper between March 2012 and May 2015. He has been the chief editor at the Observador since September 2015 and regularly comments on Justice issues on SIC, TVI and RTP. He received the Economic Journalism Prize from the University Nova/Santander in 2017.

Born in Rio de Moinhos – Aljustrel in 1952, he went to secondary school in Aljustrel, Faro and Lisbon, where he lived (in Moscavide), worked and studied from the age of 16. He went to ISCTE-IUL from 1981 to 1985, when he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and joined the University of Coimbra School of Economics as an assistant, before also joining the team at the Centre for Social Studies in the same university. Since then, he has taught, done research and published on subjects such as classes and social inequalities, the sociology of business and labour relations, trade unionism, youth and social movements. He got his PhD at the University of Coimbra in 1999, with a thesis on the footwear industry, based on participant observation in a factory in the sector (published under the title Between the Factory and the Community, published by Afrontamento, 2000).

He is a retired professor of the School of Law, University of Minho.
