José Carlos Mota
Assistant professor in the Department of Social, Political and Territorial Science at the University of Aveiro and researcher at GOVCOPP.
He has a Master’s degree in Planning and Projects in the Urban Environment from the University of Porto and a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Aveiro.
He directed the Master’s degree course in Urban and Regional Planning from 2016 to 2020.
He coordinates the Public Policy Planning Laboratory, a research group with Master's degree and PhD students at the University of Aveiro, which won the University of Aveiro Cooperation Prize in 2023.
He has been involved in a number of national and international research projects on participatory land use planning and has promoted several civic movements and initiatives on behalf of cities and citizenship. He has also written a number of national and international publications on the subject of participation and cities.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Nova University of Lisbon and she has been a journalist at the «Diário de Notícias» since 2003, where she was the editor of the International, Culture and Online sections. She has been executive editor since 2018.
She has reported from Israel, Iceland, Cape Verde and the United States.
Always closely connected to the French language, she has interviewed political figures such as Emmanuel Macron, Michel Barnier and Marine Le Pen, as well as thinkers such as Dominique Wolton and Gilles Lipovetsky.

Cristina Castel-Branco
Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Lisbon School of Agriculture (ISA). She got her PhD in 1993 and is a professor at the same school. She directed the Botanic Garden in Ajuda. She designed the amphitheatre and has been in charge of restoration work at Quinta das Lágrimas since 2004. She is an international member of ICOMOS (UNESCO) on the International Scientific Committee on Cultural Landscapes. She founded the Historical Gardens Association in 2002. She is a corresponding member of the Academy of Fine Arts (2016) and was honoured by France with the «Ordre d’Officier des Arts et des Lettres» (2013). She also received a Special Commendation from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics (IST-UL) and a PhD in Systems Biology (ITQB-NOVA), having done her thesis at Harvard University in the USA.
She was principal investigator at the Gulbenkian Institute of Science and director of the Science for Development Postgraduate Programme, a PhD programme aimed at PALOP (Portuguese-speaking African countries).
She was a professor at Nova SBE and has been coordinating the multidisciplinary research group «Social Physics & Complexity» — SPAC at the Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics Laboratory since 2020.
