A Canadian-born, naturalised American psychologist and linguist, he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Experimental Psychology at McGill University before moving to Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1976, where he has spent most of his career. He received his doctorate from Harvard University in 1979 and was awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at MIT. He then became Assistant Professor at Harvard before returning to MIT a year later. He left MIT in 2003 after accepting a teaching position at Harvard, where he remains a member of the Psychology Department with the title of Johnstone Family Professor. He was also Assistant Professor at Stanford University. Striving to clarify his theses and make them accessible to a general public, he has published books such as «The Language Instinct», «How the Mind Works», «The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature», «The Stuff of Thought: Language as a Window into Human Nature» and «The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined». One of this evolutionary psychologist's latest books is entitled «The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person's Guide to Writing in the 21st Century», in which he argues that, despite all the conflicts currently ongoing in today's world, there has never been a better time to be alive. Named «Humanist of the Year» and Honorary President of the Canadian Psychological Association, Foreign Policy magazine included him in its list of the 100 greatest intellectuals in the USA and Time in its list of the Most Influential People in the World Today. He is a regular contributor to various publications, such as The New York Times, The Guardian, Time and The Atlantic. His tenth book, «The Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism and Progress», was released in 2018 and has been published in Portugal.

Social psychologist, principal investigator at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences (ICS-UL) and visiting professor at the School of Psychology, also in that university. He has a PhD in Social Psychology from ISCTE – IUL (2009) and did his postdoctoral studies in the Netherlands and Lisbon (ICS-UL).
He was president of the Portuguese Psychology Association (APP) between 2021 and 2023.
His research focuses on intergroup relations and socially relevant decisions for low-status groups.
He has published works in magazines such as the «European Journal of Social Psychology» and «Frontiers in Psychology».

Born in 1973, he has a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and a PhD in History of Ideas from FCSH-UNL. Besides working with Portuguese media, he has been a professor and a researcher and currently works as a political consultant. He directed the INCM Prelo magazine (3rd series) from 2005 to 2009 and published several books, such as «Extemporaneous Portugal» (2 vols, 2005). Recently, he wrote several entries in the «Dictionary of the History of Portugal» on the 1974-1976 period.

He graduated in social communication from the Catholic University and began his career as a journalist at «Jornal de Letras». He has worked as a scriptwriter since 1998. He was a founding member of «Gato Fedorento» along with Miguel Góis, Zé Diogo Quintela and Tiago Dores. He writes weekly for «Visão» magazine, the Brazilian daily «Folha de S. Paulo» and is one of the members of the TSF/TVI24 programmme «Shadow Government». He is the author and presenter of the SIC programme «This Is Making Fun of People Who Work».

She has been Editor of International News and European News programmes at SIC Portugal since 2001. Between 1992 and 1997, she was primarily based in Paris and London, working for a range of organisations including Agence France Presse, le Nouvel Observateur, the BBC and CNN's European Center. From 1997 to 2000, she was a journalist at RTP Portugal. She is currently Editor of the European business programme The Europeans. She has interviewed various political leaders, writers, economists and others, including Manuel Valls, Martin Schulz, Federica Mogherini, Pierre Moscovici, Frans Timmermans, Valdis Dombrovskis, Laurent Juppé, Anne Hidalgo, Jacques Delors, Charif Majdalani, Jean d'Ormesson, Alain Fabius, Vaclav Klaus, Vaclav Havel, Carl Bilt, Manouchehr Mottaki, Bronislaw Geremek, Joschka Fisher, Margot Walstrom, Timothy Garton Ash, Niall Ferguson and Amin Malouf.

Using software to promote public debate and encourage voter engagement, she hopes to update modern democracy in Argentina and other countries. Her work focuses on how democracy must be updated for the digital age. A political scientist, she is Director of Net Democracy, a foundation which, she describes, offers «a space where citizens can come together to imagine, design and implement innovations in the political system that broaden the spectrum of democracy.»
She co-founded a political party in Buenos Aires, Argentina, called Net Democracy, or The Net Party, of which she is Executive Director. She also chairs the arteBA Youth Commission. She obtained a degree in Political Science from Torcuato di Tella University and a Master's Degree in Asian Studies in International Politics from Australia's Monash University. Her previous experience as Chief Advisor and Deputy Secretary of Political Affairs for the City of Buenos Aires has provided her with a wealth of knowledge for her current role and preparation for the «Pia Mancini speech».

Born in Porto de Mós, graduated in Economics, auditor at the Portuguese Court of Accounts. He was a member of the Madeira Regional Parliament and a member of the Portuguese Parliament. He was the Secretary of State for Internal Affairs and for Foreign Affairs and the Minister of National Defence, State and Foreign Affairs. At present, he is an international consultant and the non-executive chairman of the board of directors of BANIF and a non-executive member of the board of directors of SDM. He is a guest professor at the Higher Institute for Political and Social Sciences and at the Business School of Lisbon Nova University and a correspondent academician at the International Academy of Culture. He is a Trustee for the Fundação Oriente and a member of the European Council on Foreign Relations. He was awarded with the Portuguese decoration Grã Cruz da Ordem de Cristo and with several other decorations conferred by foreign governments.

He was born in Lisbon in 1975. He has a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Communication and Media Studies, he worked on Canal Q, owned by Produções Fictícias, and is currently a scriptwriter and works on the RTP3 programme Last One Out Turns Off the Light. He is in charge of Communication at Cinema São Jorge and was a Communication Consultant at Booktailors. He works as a freelance illustrator and writes books as if there were no tomorrow.

Pedro Pita Barros is a full professor at the Nova School of Business and Economics, Nova University Lisbon, where he is the BPI | Fundação la Caixa Professor of Health Economics, and a member of the Economic and Social Council (voted Personality of Recognised Merit).
Pedro held the position of Vice-Rector of Nova University Lisbon (2013-2017) and he is a member of the EC Expert Panel on Effective Ways of Investing in Health (EXPH) (the European Commission, by selection). He was the President of the European Health Economics Association (2013-2016) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy Services Regulator (2005-2006). He was also the President of the Portuguese Health Economics Association (1998-2000; 2009-2010), a member of the EC Mission Board for Cancer (the European Commission, by selection) (2019-2020), a member of the National Council of Ethics for Life Sciences (2015-2021) and a member of the National Health Council (representing the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities) (2016-2021).
Pedro has been honoured as a Grand Officer of the Order of Prince Henry (Ordem do Infante D. Henrique) and with a gold medal for Distinguished Services, awarded by the Ministry of Health.
His research work is in the areas of health economics, economic regulation and competition policy. He acts as a consultant for public and private bodies in the same areas.
