He was born in Luanda in 1948. He is a journalist and has worked on the «Diário de Notícias», «Público», the «Diário Popular» and «Visão» and «Sábado» magazines, as well as other publications. He has received several awards for reporting, including the Bordalo prize – Journalist of the Year award (Casa da Imprensa) and the Journalist of the Year award (Clube de Journalists do Porto). Currently, he runs the Mensagem de Lisboa online newspaper.

Professor of Health Economics in the Lancaster University Division of Health Research, UK. She has a PhD in Public Health Economics, a Master's degree in European Social Policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. She was Assistant Professor of Health Economics at the National School of Public Health (2001-2014). She worked at the Ministry of Health's Institute for Informatics and Financial Management (now ACSS) in the Management Information Systems Development department between 1995 and 2001, where she was the executive responsible for the Financing System/Classification System in Homogeneous Diagnosis Groups. As a researcher she works mainly in the area of economic evaluation of health technologies, measuring efficiency, equity and quality of life. She is president of the Portuguese Association of Health Economics (APES) and one of the founders of EuHEA – European Association of Health Economics. She was the scientific coordinator of the documentary "Tudo é Nada sem Saúde" for Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos.

He heads the Department of Political Science at Rutgers University, where he teaches political science and law. A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he is a regular commentator on EU affairs in the American and international media.
He served as Professor of Politics at Lincoln College, Oxford University. He has been a member of the Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton, a visiting professor at Princeton University's Law and Home Affairs Program and a professor at the Centre for European Policy Studies in Brussels.

Público journalist since 1989. She was a correspondent in New York (1995-2000), Culture Editor (2002-2007), editor of P2 (2007-08), executive member of the board (2008-09) and director (2009-16). She is now a main writer and writes two weekly columns, Free Style, about journalism, and Coffee Break, about anything and everything else. She has a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences from Nova University Lisbon. She was spokesperson for the UN peace mission in Timor-Leste between 2000 and 2002. She teaches classes in Writing Opinion Texts at IPPS-ISCTE-UL and has written two books: «The Negotiator – Diplomatic Revelations about Timor-Leste», 1997-1999 (Dom Quixote, 2019) and «A Normal Day in the Digital Age – Ethics, Values and Politics» (Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos, 2020).

Former CEO and member of the Executive Committee and of the Board of Directors of the Foundation, David Lopes holds a college degree in Business Management. He was until September 2014 the President of the international area of Daymon Worldwide (a leading global company in consumers’ brand development) where he was also responsible for managing international joint ventures, business operations development and expansion in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He previously was General Manager at Daymon Portugal for three years, where he led the team that established the hub which became the basis of this North American international business in Europe. He transitioned from this role to serve as CEO of the leading Portugese wholesaler «Recheio Cash & Carry» before rejoining Daymon. His professional career also includes leadership positions in the polish company Biedronka and as member of the Board of Directors of the companies «Parque Expo», «Oceanário de Lisboa» and «Fundação do Gil». He is a founding member of the Portuguese Diaspora Council.

António Barreto was born in Porto on 30th October, 1942. He lived in Vila Real until he finished secondary school, after which he attended Coimbra Law Faculty. He lived in Switzerland as a political exile from 1963 to 1974, graduating in Sociology in 1968. He worked at the University of Geneva and the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development before returning to Portugal in 1974. He worked as a professor at the Social and Human Sciences and Law Faculty at Lisbon's Universidade Nova, as a researcher at Universidade Católica and the Social Sciences Institute of Universidade de Lisboa until 2008. He gained his Doctorate in Sociology in 1985 from the University of Geneva. He was a member of the Constituent Assembly and the Portuguese Parliament, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Minister for Trade and Tourism and Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries. He was also the winner of the Montaigne Prize of 2004. He has been a member of the Academia das Ciências since 2008, Chairman of the Board of the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation since 2009 and a columnist for the «Público» newspaper since 1991. His published work includes, «Anatomia de uma Revolução», «Tempo de Mudança», «Sem Emenda», «Tempo de Incerteza», «A Situação Social em Portugal», «1960-1999» and «Anos Difíceis».

Graduated in Marine Biology from Lisbon Classic University, in 1986, with executive education at IMD (1995) and Harvard (1997), and Alumni Member of Stanford (2000). Executive President of Sociedade Francisco Manuel dos Santos B.V., the main shareholder of Jerónimo Martins, SGPS, S.A., since its establishment in 2012. Member of the Board of Directors of Jerónimo Martins SGPS, S.A. from 1995 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2015. Chairman of Unilever Fima, Lda., Gallo Worldwide, Lda., JMDB Representação e Distribuição de Marcas Lda. and Movendo Capital B.V. Since 2020, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos, of which he was member of the Board of Directors from 2009 to 2018 and member of the Board of Trustees from 2018 to 2020. Since 2015, he is the Chairman of Oceanário de Lisboa, S.A., and, since 2016, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of the Oceano Azul Foundation. Since 2024, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Alfredo de Sousa Foundation and member of the Board of Trustees of GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine.
