Samantha Gross
Director of the Energy Security and Climate Initiative and a fellow in Foreign Policy. Her work is focused on the intersection of energy, environment, and policy, including climate policy and international cooperation, the transition to net-zero emissions energy system, energy geopolitics, and global energy markets. Se has more than 25 years of experience in energy and environmental affairs.
In 2021, Samantha Gross was a Brookings Robert Bosch Foundation Transatlantic Fellow in Berlin. She has been a visiting fellow at the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center, where she authored work on clean energy cooperation and on post-Paris climate policy. She was director of the Office of International Climate and Clean Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois, a Master of Science in environmental engineering from Stanford, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley.

A former CIA director and four-star general (retired), he served in the US army for 37 years, participating in missions in Cold War Europe, the US, Central America, Haiti, Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East.
He then joined the firm KKR (in 2013) as president of the KKR Global Institute, which supports investment processes by following geopolitical, macroeconomic, environmental, social and governance trends. A year later, he was made a partner.
He is Professor of Public Policy at CUNY's Macaulay Honors College, Lecturer at the University of Southern California and a non-resident Senior Fellow at Harvard University's Belfer Center.
A distinguished graduate of the US Military Academy, he earned MPA and PhD degrees in international relations from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University.

He is an environmental engineer with a degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a master's degree from Virginia Tech in the United States, and a PhD from Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
He is an Associate Professor in the area of the environment at the Faculty of Science and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA FCT) and a member of CENSE (Centre for Research into the Environment and Sustainability), part of the CHANGE Associated Laboratory.

With over 40 years’ experience in the textile industry, he was the Portuguese representative of Euratex in Brussels, Chairman of the General Assembly of the Textile and Clothing Association of Portugal (ATP) and Chairman of Eurocoton.
In 2006, he was distinguished with the honour of Grand Officer of the Order of Business Merit – Category of Industrial Merit, by the President of the Republic.

She is Head of Unit at the European Commission's Energy Department and, since 2021, Deputy Director of «DG ENER.A – Energy Policy: Strategy and Coordination».
She has previously headed the unit responsible for defining and implementing the European Union's renewable energy policy.
She holds a Master's Degree in European Economics from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium, and a degree in Economics from the Nova School of Business and Economics in Lisbon.

Previously, he was on the advisory board of the Association of Metallurgical and Metalworking Industries of Portugal. His career in EU institutions began in 1994, after teaching for several years at the Faculty of Economics in Coimbra, where he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in economics.
While in Brussels, he worked for the European Central Bank and the European Council, serving as Chief Economist in President Donald Tusk’s cabinet (2015-2019).
