She is a professor at the University of Coimbra School of Economics, where she coordinates the Master’s degree in Sociology, and a researcher at the Centre for Social Studies (CES). She was Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality in the 21st and 22nd Constitutional Governments (2017-2022). She has a PhD in Sociology of the State, Law and Administration, a Master’s degree in Families and Social Systems and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. Over the last decade, her research has been in the field of equality and public and organisational policies of non-discrimination, gender mainstreaming and official bodies for equality and non-discrimination.
