Vera Gouveia Barros
Economist, specialist in housing and tourism. She taught at the University of Madeira for 10 years and worked as a researcher at ISEG.
She wrote the book "Tourism in Portugal" (2016) and is co-author of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos study "The real estate market in Portugal" (2022).
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Nova University Lisbon, a Master's degree in Economics and European Studies from the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG) and a PhD in Economics from ISEG. She is a contributor to the "Tempestade perfeita" programme on Rádio Observador and a columnist for the online newspaper "Eco".

He got his PhD in Economics from the University of Amsterdam/Tinbergen Institute in 2007. He is currently Associate Professor at the University of Minho (U Minho) and Director of the PhD programme in Economics at the same institution. He is also a researcher at NIPE (UMinho), CIPES (UAveiro and UPorto) and the Institute of Labour Economics (IZA), Germany, and assists the Bank of Portugal on a permanent basis. His research focuses mainly on Labour and Education Economics and Applied Econometrics. He has written several academic papers, books and book chapters, and has been published in prestigious journals such as Econometrica, the Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Regional Studies and Studies in Higher Education. His work has been cited, among others, in prestigious specialist journals such as Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, the Industrial and Labour Relations Review and Labour Economics. He maintains research collaborations in several countries, leading and integrating research teams that develop funded projects. He has authored policy-oriented reports on minimum wages, education and employment applicable to the Portuguese labour market. He also has extensive experience in consultancy for both private and public institutions.

Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering and Management at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon and Researcher at the Centre for Studies in Innovation, Technology and Development Policies (IN+). His research aims to better understand the performance effects of labour mobility, in particular the value of entrepreneurial human capital at the level of the individual and of the company, as well as its impact on the region.

His studies, co-authored with a number of national and international researchers, cover the Portuguese and European realities, with an emphasis on analysing the German labour market.

He is a consultant researcher at the Bank of Portugal's Economic Research Department and a visiting professor at the Nova School of Business and Economics. He is also an external researcher at the Essex Centre for Financial Econometrics, University of Essex, and the Clive Granger Centre for Time Series Analysis, University of Nottingham, both in the United Kingdom.
He has carried out research in the fields of time series, financial econometrics, macroeconometrics and applied macroeconomics. His research has been published in international scientific journals including the "Review of Economics and Statistics", the "Journal of Econometrics", "Econometric Theory", "Econometrics Reviews", the "Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics".
