Andrew J. Scott: The challenge of longevity is not that simple

30 min
Watch episode

According to estimates, most children born today could live to be 80 or 90 years old. How long can human beings live? Will it become increasingly normal to live to 100?  Longevity and ageing are going to revolutionise «everything», argues professor of Economics at the London Business School, Andrew J. Scott.

In this episode, the economist explains how we have managed to increase our life expectancy so significantly over recent decades and how a longer life is «a good thing». However, he also identifies the challenges posed by increased longevity. Scott also discusses how governments and companies can deal with some of these challenges.

Andrew J. Scott also explains how, to change the way people age and improve their quality of life in old age, we must change and improve the way we live when we are young, in a scintillating conversation with journalist Pedro Pinto.
