Executive President of Sociedade Francisco Manuel dos Santos B.V., the main shareholder of Jerónimo Martins, SGPS, S.A., since its establishment in 2012. Member of the Board of Directors of Jerónimo Martins SGPS, S.A. from 1995 to 2001 and from 2004 to 2015. He is a Non-Executive Director of the Company since April 2019. Chairman of Unilever Fima, Lda., Gallo Worldwide, Lda., JMDB Representação e Distribuição de Marcas Lda. and miMed, Cuidados de Saúde S.A. Chairman of Movendo Capital B.V., since 2017. Since May 2020, he is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos, of which he was a Board Member from 2009 to 2018. Since September 2015, he is the Chairman of Oceanário de Lisboa, S.A., and, since December 2016, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors of the Oceano Azul Foundation.

Sylvia Earle
A Resident Researcher at the National Geographic Society, Sylvia Earle founded the Deep Search Foundation, is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Harte Research Institute and the Marine Science and Technology Foundation and was Lead Researcher for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). She has authored over 175 publications, led over 100 expeditions, logged over 7,000 hours of diving and has received over 100 awards in the US and abroad. A graduate of Florida State University, with a master's and doctorate from Duke University, her research focuses on the ecology and conservation of marine ecosystems and the development of deep-water access technologies. Time named her a «Hero of the Planet» and the Library of Congress a «Living Legend». In 2009, she received the TED Prize.

Rui Costa Lopes
Social psychologist, principal investigator at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences (ICS-UL) and visiting professor at the School of Psychology, also in that university. He has a PhD in Social Psychology from ISCTE – IUL (2009) and did his postdoctoral studies in the Netherlands and Lisbon (ICS-UL).
He was president of the Portuguese Psychology Association (APP) between 2021 and 2023.
His research focuses on intergroup relations and socially relevant decisions for low-status groups.
He has published works in magazines such as the «European Journal of Social Psychology» and «Frontiers in Psychology».

After working for SIC as producer and correspondent, she attended Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism (New York). Since then, she has dedicated herself to reporting from danger zones: She worked undercover to report on the mujahideen crossing from Syria into Iraq; she camped in the Amazon jungle to cover the dispute between indigenous tribes and miners over the largest diamond mine in South America; and she travelled on the «Train of Death», which carries migrants from Central America to the US, etc. She has received several journalistic awards, as well as an Emmy nomination. She is a correspondent for National Geographic's Explorer series.

A journalist, he was Director of News at RTP and TVI, simultaneously editing and presenting Telejornal (RTP) and Jornal das 8 (TVI). He began his career in radio and, in 1992, was part of the team that founded the first private television station in Portugal, SIC, where he presented Jornal da Noite. He taught at the Escola Superior de Comunicação Social and co-coordinated the Postgraduate Course in Journalism at ISCTE/Media Capital. At the invitation of the President of the Republic, he inaugurated the programme «Journalists in Belém Palace» in 2018.

He was the 68th US Secretary of State between 2013 and 2017. As the country's chief diplomat, he defined the State Department's strategy for nuclear non-proliferation, combating radical extremism and climate change. His tenure was distinguished by his success in negotiating the nuclear agreement with Iran and the Paris Agreement. Between 1985 and 2013, he was the senator for Massachusetts and between 2009 and 2013 he chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He served in the US Navy, with two tours of duty in Vietnam, for which he received a Silver Star and a Bronze Star for bravery in combat, as well as three Purple Hearts. He graduated from Yale University and specialised in law at Boston College Law School. Author of the bestsellers «A Call to Service: My Vision for a Better America and This Moment on Earth», Secretary of State John Kerry published a memoir entitled «Every Day Is Extra» in 2018. He is currently a Distinguished Fellow for Global Affairs at Yale University, as well as a Visiting Distinguished Statesman at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Carl Safina
Known for his poetic non-fiction prose about conservation and nature. His work explores how the human species has been altering the world of living beings and the consequences of these changes for non-human species and for all of us. Combining science, emotion and ethics, Safina calls first and foremost for action. He obtained his doctorate in ecology with a thesis on seabirds, after which he became involved in the fight to abolish the use of fishing nets on the high seas and reform US fishing policies. He hosted the PBS series «Saving the Ocean». His writings have appeared in The New York Times, Time, Audubon and Yale E360 magazines, as well as online on National Geographic, the Huffington Post and CNN.com. His books include the classic «Song for the Blue Ocean» and «Beyond Words: What Animals Think and Feel».

Bruno Cardoso Reis
He holds a PhD in War Studies from King's College and a Master’s degree in Contemporary History from the University of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities. He was deputy director of the Centre for International Studies at Iscte-IUL, where he teaches and directs the PhD in History and Security and Defence Studies, in partnership with the Military Academy. He was deputy to the Minister of National Defence (2019-2022). He is a guest professor at the Institute of Political Studies at UCP and, in the 2024-25 academic year, he will be a FLAD guest professor at Georgetown University in Washington. He has published several articles and books, including the essay "Can Portugal have a Strategy?" (2019) published by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos.

She coordinated the Digital Area and the Fronteiras XXI project, with a monthly debate program in a partnership with RTP, the national Portuguese television.
Joana Ferreira da Costa was a journalist between 1997 and 2016. She worked for 11 years at the daily newspaper «Público» writing about Science, Health Policies and Politics, having been a resident's reporter at Parliament. She then worked as a sub-editor at «Diário de Notícias» and at weekly newspaper «Sol».
She has a degree in Social and Cultural Communication from the Portuguese Catholic University.

She is a writer, teacher, literary critic and communicator. She has worked in the dissemination of Books and Literature in the press and on television for 30 years, at dissemination events and writing workshops and tutoring.
Currently, she is editor of «Ler» magazine, she writes literary criticism in the «Sol» newspaper, coordinates and teaches a post-graduate degree in fiction writing at Universidade Lusófona, she is responsible for the communication of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos essays and portraits, part of the communication office of ULS Médio Tejo, coordinates the Dom Luis I Foundation programme of International Writing Residences and is on the Cultural Council of the Eça de Queiroz Foundation.
She is the author of the novel «This Is My Body», translated into seven languages, of the reportage book «The Last Sailors» (FFMS) and of a «Sentimental Dictionary of Adultery».
