Health Inequalities
Nº152 SEPTEMBER 2025
Did you know that the stories of two patients with similar diagnoses can have different outcomes due to the differences in their social contexts? In fact, apart from the clinical aspects, factors such as social class, sex, age, region, education and public policies are decisive in individual health.
This book shows how access to the health system in Portugal depends not only on the availability and appropriate distribution of resources, but also on the ability of the patients to use them efficiently, influenced by sociological constraints. With a detailed analysis of the asymmetries, in comparison to the European context, this book reflects on the challenges to assuring an equitable health service that is fit for all.
