The Best of «Energy: A future for Europe»

Amid blackouts, storms, old wars and new ones, Europe continues to intensify its efforts to avoid a severe energy crisis without losing sight of its commitment to tackling climate change.

The long-awaited energy transition will only be achieved if Europe can reconcile three vital and seemingly competing objectives: secure energy supplies, affordable costs for households and businesses, and meeting climate targets. Will it succeed?

Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos organised the conference Energy: A Future for Europe to help address these challenges, drawing on six policy papers produced through a partnership with the Brookings Institution, one of the world's largest and most prestigious think tanks.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Vandelli Botanical Garden in Lisbon to hear experts from a wide range of fields share their perspectives on the present and future of energy, both in Portugal and across the European Union.
