Conductor, mainly as musical director and guest conductor, Martim Sousa Tavares has collaborated with orchestras in eight countries as well as several of Portugal’s leading national orchestras, such as the Romanian Radio National Orchestra, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Algarve Orchestra, Beiras Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Northern Orchestra, among others.
With the Orchestra Without Borders (Orquestra Sem Fronteiras), which he founded, he won the Charlemagne Youth Prize in 2022, the Carlos de Pontes Leça Award from the Mirpuri Foundation, and an honourable mention for the Portugal Justo Prize from the Manuel António da Mota Foundation.
In May 2024, he released his first book, «Falar Piano e Tocar Francês», followed in 2025 by «O Rei com Música na cabeça», and most recently, in 2026, «Amanhã à mesma hora - Dez lições sobre o trabalho em equipa».
Since 2025, he has created and presented «Ponto de Fuga» in concert halls across the country.
