Director of the Bank of Portugal, she holds a PhD in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the New University of Lisbon and a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of Porto. Her area of specialisation is public economics. She was a member of the board of directors of the Portuguese Trade & Investment Agency (AICEP) and Lecturer at the Católica Porto Business School of the Portuguese Catholic University in Porto, where she taught macroeconomics and geopolitics, among others.
