Born in Coimbra in 1941, she completed her Bachelor’s degree and the complementary course on Legal Sciences at the University of Coimbra School of Law (FDUC). She studied at the Free University of Berlin, the Max Planck Institute (Freiburg) and the International College for Comparative Law Teaching (Strasbourg). Among other positions and functions, she was a researcher at the Centre for Comparative Law at FDUC, director of the Centre for Observation and Social Action attached to the Children’s Court in Coimbra and director of the Office of Legal and Social Studies at the Centre for Judicial Studies (CEJ). She is a member of the Centre for Family Law of FDUC.
