Mariana Pereira Silva is a writer, researcher and communicator in the field of fashion and sustainability.
She holds a master’s degree in Fashion Branding and Design and is currently pursuing a PhD in Development Studies at the University of Lisbon, applying a post-growth theoretical framework to apparel value chains.
Mariana is the author of «Desfilar pela História», a children’s book about the history of fashion and sustainability, published by Penguin Random House Portugal in October 2025.
She has worked as guest lecturer at the University of Beira Interior, teaching Fashion Sustainability in the Fashion Design degree programme, and as a researcher for Católica-Lisbon School of Business and Economics, as well as University College Dublin, exploring social and environmental sustainability in the textile and clothing sector.
Outside academia, Mariana continues to spread the knowledge gained from years of study through Ethica – Sustainable Fashion Hub, an online platform sharing resources and scientific evidence to help shape a more informed fashion community.
