Professor of Political Science at the School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs (SPEGA) at IE University in Madrid.
She held professorships at Bocconi University, Oxford University, Free University (VU) Amsterdam and visiting posts at UCLA.
A specialist in European politics, she has published several books, one of which was considered one of the five best books on the future of Europe by the Financial Times.
She is a member of the European Integration Committee of the Dutch Advisory Council for Foreign Affairs and sits on the Board of Trustees of the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin.
In 2013, she was named a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum for her social impact.
