Bio
Amilcar Moreira has a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Bath (UK). He then moved to Trinity College Dublin, where he collaborated in the preparation of «The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing» (TILDA). In 2009, he received a Post-Doctoral Grant from the Nordic Centre of Excellence: Reassessing the NordicWelfare Model (reassess), to conduct a study on the reform of activation policies targeted at minimum income benefit recipients, in Europe and USA.
Since January 2012, he received Post-Doctoral Grant from The Foundation for Science and Technology (Portugal) and has joined the Institute of Social Sciences, where as part of the Institute of Ageing team, he develops a project on the political economy of ageing labour markets.
His research focus on active social policies, poverty and social exclusion, active ageing and comparative social policy. His work has been published in international publishers, such as Oxford University Press or Policy Press; or in international specialty journals - such as «Social Policy & Administration», «European Journal of Social Security», «Journal of Population Aging» and «European Journal of Aging».
