They are often seen as non-conformists, idealists and sources of change and progress. They are the children of the past and the adults of the future who today represent around 21% of the country's population. There are fewer and fewer of them as time goes by.

They are also the most educated generation ever, the most well-equipped with digital tools and the one most accustomed to living in an increasingly global world. The civic participation of these young people and many of the causes they embrace therefore have the power to make us believe in a fairer, more sustainable and more equal future.

Young people in Portugal today face major challenges: building a stable career, leaving their parents' home and starting a family are just some of them. But there are grounds for hope.
