Bio
He holds a Bachelor’s degree and PhD in Economics from the Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE), is a Principal Investigator at Nova SBE and Scientific Co-Director of the Nova SBE Environmental Economics Knowledge Centre. He worked at the Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, from 2008 to 2011, where he developed research in the area of integrating forestry, agriculture and land use topics into numerical macroeconomic models. In 2018, he was awarded a Scientific Employment Stimulus grant (Principal Investigator) and, in 2012, he was awarded an FCT early career research grant in the FCT Investigator Competition. His research interests focus on the study of renewable resources and ecosystem services, with an emphasis on the formulation of multidisciplinary bioeconomic models. He has published research work in prominent journals in the field and has been an invited speaker at various universities, seminars and workshops. His joint work with fisheries and forestry scientists has recently produced two bioeconomic models for Portuguese forests and a bioeconomic model for Ibero-Atlantic sardine stocks. In the academic field, he has taught at Nova SBE, the University of Aveiro and the University of Venice Ca'Foscari.
