Bio
She was born in Lisbon in 1967 and her parents and grandparents are teachers. She got her Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and Literature at the University of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities. After her studies, she spent a decade teaching children from 6 to 18 years of age at the German School in Lisbon. In 1993, she published three books: «Antonio is Only Afraid of a Few Things», «There’s a Lot of Noise in António’s Building», and «António’s Best Christmas». In 2001, she moved to the United States, where she began teaching Portuguese language and literature at Princeton University. She has been teaching at Michigan State University in the areas of children’s literature, creative writing and Portuguese since 2008. She is married and has two daughters. She spends her time reading and writing in English and Portuguese.
