Teresa Pinto Correia
Professor in the Department of Landscape, Environment and Planning at the University of Évora. She is a geographer with a degree from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, an MSc from Arlon, Belgium (Diplome Européen en Sciences de l'Environment), and a PhD in Geography from the University of Copenhagen.
She is Director of MED – Mediterranean Institute for Agriculture, Environment and Development, Course Director of the Doctoral Programme in Interdisciplinary Landscape Management and of the Doctoral Programme in Landscape Biodiversity and Society.

Lead Researcher at the Energy Systems Centre and member of the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science’s (INESC TEC) Board of Directors. His research focuses on the integration of distributed electrical resources (renewable electricity generation, electric vehicles, storage, etc.) in distribution and transmission networks, dynamic analysis of electrical systems and smart grids.

Paulo Fernandes
He has a PhD in forestry sciences (University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, UTAD, 2003) and 30 years of professional experience. His scientific work has focused primarily on the behaviour and ecology of forest fires, working from an applied perspective to forest management. This contribution has resulted from his participation in 14 international R&D projects, including coordination tasks, namely the FP6 Fire Paradox project and 28 national projects. He is (co)author of over 115 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 29 international book chapters. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Wildland Fire and Annals of Forest Science and has served on the Board of the International Association of Wildland Fire.

Rodrigo Proença de Oliveira
Professor and researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico and at Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability. At the same time, he has had a consultancy firm for more than 30 years, in the area of hydrology and water resources.
He devotes particular interest to the challenges of water management in a context of increasing scarcity and uncertainty, as a result of economic transformation and climate change.
He has a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University (USA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico.

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies and a Master’s degree in Human Ecology and Contemporary Social Problems, she worked as a producer of content for radio and television, directed documentaries and wrote fiction scripts. She is a founding member and vice-president of the Circular Economy Portugal association – CEP.

His background is in architecture. His photographic survey of Portugal gave rise to a photographic archive of more than 1,880,000 images. The highlights of his published work include: «Portugal – The Flavour of the Land» (1997–98), «Portugal Heritage» (2007–08), «Portugal Light and Shadow» (2012) and the trilogy made up of «Meandering Along”, «After the Road» and «Longer Journey» (2020). He has worked with important names in Portuguese culture, such as Mário de Cesariny, Ruy Belo, Maria Gabriela Llansol and Miguel Torga. He is editor of the Infinite City blog. He has been holding exhibitions since 1987 and regularly participates in pedagogical activities, conferences and round tables.

A writer and journalist specialising in the environment, he has been researching climate change and responsiveness to a rapidly changing environment for ProPublica, an independent investigative journalism newsroom in New York, which collaborates with the New York Times Magazine.
He is a 2022 Emerson Collective Fellow at New America and has received a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation to write his next book on climate migration. He also teaches narrative writing on climate change at the University of California, Berkeley.
His most recent research includes a three-part series on global climate migration, an analysis of the global palm oil trade, the climatic factors behind pandemics and how climate change is evidencing a global water shortage. Another of his series on the causes of water scarcity in the American West, «Killing the Colorado», was a finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize and received the top honour from the National Academy of Sciences.

Pedro Matos Soares
Principal investigator at the Dom Luis Institute at the University of Lisbon and a visiting professor at the Department of Geographic Engineering, Geophysics and Energy, both at the University of Lisbon School of Sciences.
He is the coordinator of the Portuguese team in CORDEX (Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment) and takes part in several other international research projects on climate change. He is also scientific coordinator of the EEA Grants project «National Roadmap for Adaptation 2100 –Portuguese Territorial Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment for the 21st century» (RNA 2100).
