Five meetings, five crucial subjects of our time, 10 years of Meeting the Portuguese. Throughout 2019, Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos promoted debate on the role of women in society, the sustainability of the pension system, the challenges of ethics, the future of the planet and the urgency of the climate crisis, and the impact of advances in science on humanity. Based on these topics, which brought internationally renowned experts to Portugal, we are now publishing five essays that propose a reflection on the country and the world in the 21st century.
