She is a specialist in Brazilian foreign policy and has a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1995) and a professor at the Institute of Social and Political Studies/State University of Rio de Janeiro (IESP/UERJ). She was a visiting researcher in Latin American Studies – University of Oxford (2012) and IPRI-NOVA (2020 and 2022).
