Head of Unit at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs.
His career in EU institutions began in 1994, after teaching for several years at the Faculty of Economics in Coimbra, where he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in economics.
While in Brussels, he worked for the European Central Bank and the European Council, serving as Chief Economist in President Donald Tusk’s cabinet (2015-2019).
