Professor of Portuguese Literature at the Coimbra School of Arts and Humanities . As well as having published studies on canonical authors (Gil Vicente, Camões, Mário de Sá Carneiro and Miguel Torga), he has devoted himself to the problems of teaching literature, especially as a member of the National Education Council.
