Professor and director of the Globalisation and Governance Centre (CG&G) at the Nova School of Business and Economics, he is a member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, the Royal Academy of Belgium and the Canadian Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI). He taught at Yale and Princeton universities, Sciences Po university in Paris and the Catholic Universities in Portugal and Angola. He also served as President of the OECD Development Centre and the Tropical Scientific Research Institute (which includes the Tropical Botanical Garden).
