Born in Rio de Moinhos – Aljustrel in 1952, he went to secondary school in Aljustrel, Faro and Lisbon, where he lived (in Moscavide), worked and studied from the age of 16. He went to ISCTE-IUL from 1981 to 1985, when he completed his Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and joined the University of Coimbra School of Economics as an assistant, before also joining the team at the Centre for Social Studies in the same university. Since then, he has taught, done research and published on subjects such as classes and social inequalities, the sociology of business and labour relations, trade unionism, youth and social movements. He got his PhD at the University of Coimbra in 1999, with a thesis on the footwear industry, based on participant observation in a factory in the sector (published under the title Between the Factory and the Community, published by Afrontamento, 2000).

Diogo Queiroz de Andrade
He is a journalist and researcher with a focus on the intersection of technology, culture and power. Since Portuguese newspapers began to pay attention to the digital, he has been creative director of the «Observador», deputy director of the «Público», director of the «Forum» and columnist in the «Eco».
He is Director of Innovation at Global Media, a group that includes the «Diário de Notícias», TSF and the «Jornal de Notícias».
He currently teaches Innovation and Strategy at Nova University Lisbon.

Ana Sofia Fonseca
Director, writer, journalist and well-known storyteller. She has a Bachelor's degree in Cultural and Media Studies and she has worked on the Grande Reportagem TV programme, the Expresso and the Público newspapers and Egoísta magazine. The author of important reports and documentary programmes, she has received several awards for her journalistic work, particularly the UNESCO «Human Rights and Integration» award and four AMI Journalism Against Indifference awards. She published the portrait «Roots» with Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos and directed «Countdown», a documentary, which is now making its début at FFMS Conferences.

Patrícia Silva
Patrícia Silva holds a PhD in Political Science. She is assistant professor at the University of Aveiro and a researcher at the Research Unit on Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies (GOVCOPP) at the University of Aveiro, where her work focuses on political parties, the politicisation of appointed elite recruitment and political participation and representation.
She is the author of the essay «Jobs for the Boys? Civil Service Appointments» published by the Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos in 2020.

Mónica Truninger
Sociologist at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences. She has devoted herself to the research, teaching and communication of social food practices through research on food poverty, sustainable food consumption and eating habits of families with children. Several of her works alluding to these topics have been published by Portuguese and international publishers.

He has a PhD in Economics from Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE), an institution where he is a member of the Centre for Economics of Education and where he got his Bachelor's degree and MPhil in Economics. His research focuses on the subjects of Economics of Education and Human Capital, such as: measures of added value for teachers, differentials between internal and external scores, reasons behind the progression in PISA tests and factors of success in higher education.
His work uses comprehensive databases of both the labour market and the Portuguese education system. He was also involved in the impact assessment for different educational projects developed in Portugal. He was a visiting student in the economics department at the University College of London (UCL). He is a visiting assistant at Nova SBE for several Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree courses.

Economist and researcher in Political Science at ISCTE-IUL. Director of the postgraduate Pprogram in Critical Thinking and Decision-Making at ISCTE Executive Education, and guest lecturer at Católica-Lisbon.
Consultant, trainer, and speaker on critical thinking and decision-making, with organizations such as Sonae, Nestlé, Fidelidade, Bosch, Isdin, E.Leclerc, Auchan, and C2, among others.
Host of the award-winning podcast «45 Graus» (currently, in partnership with the newspaper Expresso).
Commentator on the program «Contraponto», broadcast on the tv channel RTP News.

Luísa Loura
Director of Pordata and member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos. She holds a PhD in Statistics and Computing and graduated in Mathematics, Luísa Loura is a professor and researcher at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon. She was director of the Directorate-General for Education and Science Statistics. As a researcher, she published works in the areas of extreme theory, stochastic processes, biostatistics and the teaching of statistics.

António Araújo
Director of publications and member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, António Araújo was born in Lisbon in 1966. He obtained a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in law at the University of Lisbon and holds a PhD in contemporary history from the Catholic University of Portugal. He was a teacher at the Faculty of Law and teaches now at NOVA FCSH. He is adviser to the Constitutional Court, in unpaid leave, and was consultant to the President of the Republic for political affairs. He is the author of several books and articles in political science, constitutional law and contemporary history. He represents FFMS on the Board of the Portuguese Foundation Center.

Clara Raposo
She is President of the ISEG Lisbon School of Economics and Management at the University of Lisbon, where she has been a full professor of Finance in the Management department since 2010. She has taught at ISCTE and the University of Oxford. She holds a PhD from the London Business School. Her research areas are corporate finance and corporate governance, and she has published her work in international academic journals. She holds several non-executive directorships and is a corresponding member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
