Full professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine of the Portuguese Catholic University, specialising in cognitive neuroscience.
He was President of the International Neuropsychological Society, which awarded him its Distinguished Career Award. A full member of the Lisbon Academy of Sciences, he has published 10 books and over 200 academic articles.
