Margarida Marques is a Portuguese MEP from the Partido Socialista, part of the Socialists and Democrats group. She was elected a member of the European Parliament in 2019 and currently serves as vice-chair of the Committee on Budgets and member of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and of the Committee on International Trade. Marques was the European Parliament rapporteur on the European Economic Governance Review and Parliament´s co-negotiator on the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021-2027. She was also rapporteur for opinion on the revision of treaties in the ECON Committee and S&D rapporteur for the 2022 annual report on the European Central Bank. Marques is currently member of the European Parliament´s recovery and resilience facility and chair of the Euro area accession countries working groups. Before her election at the European Parliament, she held political positions as member of the Portuguese Parliament and state secretary for european affairs of the Portuguese government. She holds an MA degree in educational sciences.
