Citizens and businesses need prompt justice, not justice somewhere down the road. Often, when it comes there is little need of it. Why is the Portuguese justice system so slow? This book helps the reader to understand how the courts work and the dynamics of procedural rules, as well as who the main actors are and what role they play, providing elements that will help to find the answer to that question.
Justice reforms cannot continue to have such little impact on practices in Portuguese courts. We must fight against the time and effort wasted on reform after reform. The transformation of justice depends very much on an active citizenship demanding quality and efficiency.
