He was born in Bombarral in 1963. He has a Bachelor's degree in Economics from ISE and he is a teacher and journalist. He was a correspondent for the Diário de Notícias and wrote for Sábado, Dirigir and Le Rail magazines. He has worked at the Público since 1991 and is Deputy Director of Gazeta das Caldas.

She is a researcher at CREA – Centre for Research in Anthropology at the Nova School of Social and Human Sciences in Lisbon. She has a PhD in Anthropology and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and she has worked on identity, memory and uses of culture in built-up areas, paying special attention to the fields of heritage and tourism.
