Global Risks and Biodiversity
No. 114 SEPTEMBER 2021
Did you know that several scientific papers and international reports say that we are now witnessing unprecedented mass extinction on the planet? And that many of the global risks are due to the over-exploitation of natural resources caused by the increase in world population? This essay argues that biodiversity loss is even more alarming than climate change. From this perspective, and because everything is interconnected, it recalls and relates some concepts about energy metabolism and climate change, scarcity of reserves and overpopulation. It is an enlightening and firm reminder of the urgent need to look at biodiversity and its conservation as a measure of halting the planetary risks that humankind has brought about throughout its evolution.
Book recommended by the National Reading Plan.
