Places of well-being: asymmetries in Portuguese municipalities
What contributes to the well-being of citizens?
In this study, we take a fresh look at areas from the point of view of their inequalities and opportunities. As it is increasingly clear that economic growth is insufficient to measure and evaluate social progress, we present a proposal that allows for a diverse view of the living conditions and well-being of the Portuguese.
The study shows that the safety and environmental quality of the place where we live, the possibilities for managing family life and work, access to housing and education, health and transport services, as well as involvement in communities, are some of the factors that most influence people's perception and experience of well-being, and they vary greatly between different places.
