We live in a time of transitions in international politics and uncertainty about relations between the major powers. However, we are systematically faced with theories that are too definitive, such as the «Pacific century», the «decline of the West», the «peaceful rise of China» or «American unilateralism». This essay seeks to question these and other axioms, turning off the Asian ascensional dynamics of an apparent Western decline and defending that a silent resurgence of the Atlantic is underway capable of re-entering the geopolitics of the 21st century, enhancing the geographical position of Portugal and maximising its foreign policy.
