Learning
Nº144 JANUARY 2025
Learning, why and what for? Our expectations for our education system and whether it can be improved have been the subject of debate for decades. This essay returns to the subject, but from the standpoint of the scientific developments that could help education, in the area of cognitive science, statistical studies, the economy of education and comparative international analyses.
These pages advocate an ambitious curriculum, focused on knowledge and not on vague skills. The need for frequent, thorough and valid assessment is explained, and support for pupils with greater difficulties is also advocated. Teachers and learning are praised. Because the love of learning is still alive within us, we can move towards an educational approach informed by experience, by data and by science.
