He is a principal investigator at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences. Over the years, in several countries, from the United States to Israel, as well as England and Brazil, he has devoted himself to the study of nationalism, right-wing and left-wing sociopolitical movements, as well as issues related to political leadership. In 2021, Zúquete organised the «Routledge International Handbook of Charisma».

Reporter for the Público newspaper since its foundation. He was a correspondent in New York and editor of Pública magazine. For more than 20 years he has been reporting all over the world, in crisis zones, or wherever there is news or a good story. He has covered conflicts in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Chechnya, Algeria, Angola, Kashmir, Sudan, Libya and many others, and has won several awards (Gazeta, AMI, ACIDI, Portuguese Press Club, FLAD, Lettre Ulysses, Lorenzo Natali, etc.). He is a professor of journalism at the School of Communication and Media Studies in Lisbon and he wrote the biography of Otelo Saraiva de Carvalho and four other books. He currently has a blog on reports and gallivanting entitled «Reporter on the Loose».

He has a PhD in Political Sciences and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He is a university professor and writer and was considered by the Library of Congress to be one of the greatest thinkers in the area of political science and sociology in Latin America.
He was in exile during the military dictatorship in Brazil, in Chile in 1964 and then in France, before returning to his country in 1968. He was the founder of the Brazilian Centre for Analysis and Planning (Cebrap). He also taught at Stanford, Cambridge and Paris universities.
He represented São Paulo as a senator for the Brazilian Democratic Movement (MDB) and was one of the founders of the Brazilian Social Democracy Party (PSDB) in 1988. He was a member of the parliament that drafted the Constitution.
He was Minister of Foreign Affairs (1992-1993) and Minister of Finance (1993-1994) in Itamar Franco's government.
He has a PhD Honoris Causa from the University of Coimbra and University of Porto Schools of Economics and from the University of Montreal. He has received the John W. Kluge Award (2012).

A data scientist, he has a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Porto. He is currently completing a second Master's degree in Political Science at the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE).
His research interests include political economy, the sociology of finance, elections and political representation and data visualisation.

She was a researcher at the University of Lisbon Institute of Social Sciences, where she obtained a PhD in Political Sociology and taught political communication and media and politics. She was also a researcher at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at Oxford University in the UK. With a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and a Master's degree in Social Sciences with the thesis "The Vehicles of Political Communication – A Study of an Electoral Campaign in the Media", she also worked as a journalist and communication consultant before devoting herself to her academic career.
Her work focuses on the impact of the media on democracy. She was recently vice-chair of a European working group set up to analyse the consequences of populist political communication on democratic life in Europe and the changes in communication systems and the media. She is currently working on comparative studies of the media and its influence on democratic and social construction in Europe, Brazil and Africa.

Professor of Political Science and Sociology at the Carlos III University in Madrid, he carries out comparative work on the subjects of politics and culture, cultural change, democracy and democratic practice, the consequences of inequalities and social protest. He directed a CONEX-Marie Curie Fellowship at Carlos III University. He has been a professor and researcher at the University of Notre Dame, an associate professor at Harvard University, as well as a visiting professor at the Juan March Institute (Madrid) and the Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). He holds a PhD in Sociology from Yale University.
