He holds a PhD in Global Studies from the Nova University Lisbon School of Social Sciences and works as a researcher at IPRI-Nova. His recent research on the concentration of penal colonies, rural development and colonial institutional change has been published in the Journal of Imperial and Commonwealth Studies, the Portuguese Studies Review and Comparativ. He was also a member of the CEI-ISCTE research team responsible for collecting data and analysing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the external dimension of Portuguese sovereignty (project funded by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos).

Sara Sá is a science communicator at GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine. Before joining GIMM, she worked as a science and health journalist for «Visão» newsmagazine and «Exame Informática». For more than two decades, she has written articles for media, reported news stories for television, and hosted podcasts.
She has interviewed Nobel Prize laureates and reported from around the world. She holds a degree in Space Engineering, has published a book debunking scientific myths, and her work has been recognized by UNESCO, LPCC, and Apifarma.

A professional photographer since 1986, he works in the industrial, engineering/architecture and editorial areas. In 1994, he co-founded Volta ao Mundo magazine and was its director of photography until 2004, reporting from more than 50 countries. He held the same position in Evasões magazine between 1999 and 2002. He is responsible for several albums and exhibitions, his work is published in a number of national and international media outlets and present in various collections.
