Emeritus full professor at the University of Porto.
He is co-author of more than 500 publications and co-editor of the book «Electric Vehicles Integration into Modern Power Networks» from Springer.
He supervised several consulting projects related with the impact analysis of the connection of wind parks in the electrical grids of Madeira, Azores, Sal, S. Vicente and S. Tiago, in the Republic of Cabo Verde. He was the responsible for several consultancy projects related with the electrical grid impact resulting from the connection of large wind parks in Portugal.

Coordinator of the Center for Power and Energy Systems at INESC TEC. His research focus on artificial intelligence and data-driven methods for power system operation, renewable energy integration and smart grids.
He received the Energy Systems Integration Group Excellence Award in 2022.
He is the co-author of more than 80 journal papers and over 140 conference publications.

Sofia Simões
Coordinator of the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology's (LNEG) Resource Economics unit. Researcher on energy systems with experience in both the research and the private sector, both in Portugal and abroad. Her work focuses on low carbon energy systems, namely on energy technological transitions, new policy approaches, as well as on the vulnerability and adaptation of energy systems to climate change.
She has a PhD from Leiden University (NL) where she studied interactions between energy and environment policies. She has a MSc. in Environmental Management and Policy from Lund University (SE). Her BSc Degree is in Environmental Engineering from NOVA University.

Multi-award-winning photojournalist and director of films on natural history. He is a regular contributor to National Geographic Magazine and also has over a thousand articles and reports published in the national and international press.
He gives classes on nature photography and film-making on land and underwater.
He was part of the large photographic project on nature in Europe – Wild Wonders of Europe – and has won national and international awards. He has had several solo photo exhibitions and worked on many others, in Portugal and abroad. Many of his natural history photos have been shown on channels such as the National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, ARTE TV France, TV Globo, SIC, RTP and many more. The documentary Portugal’s Mountains of Wonder, which he co-wrote, is currently on Netflix in Europe.
He has written a number of books and worked on many others, particularly «The Sea of My Home – Atlantic Almada» (April 2023).
He was honoured by the Portuguese government for his work in the area of underwater photography in 2004 and was named one of the «New Heroes of the Sea».
