Born in 1947, he graduated in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon and led several Ministries in different governments (Internal Affairs, National Defense and Foreign Affairs). He was Member of Parliament from 1975 to 2011, were he held office as Speaker, consequently becoming a member of the Council of State. Presently, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Lisbon University and of the Strategy Board of the Political Studies Institute of the Lisbon Catholic University. Member of the Supervisory Board of the Military University Institute and of the High Council of the Navy’s Centre for Strategic Studies. He also belongs to the Aspen Ministers Forum. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Novo Banco Azores and Chairman of the Supervisory Board for the electronic newspaper Observador. He is Senior Strategic Counsel at Albright Stonebridge Group. He was awarded several Portuguese and foreign decorations. He received the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of the Azores and is Chancellor of the Ancient Portuguese Military Orders.

António Araújo
Director of publications and member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee, António Araújo was born in Lisbon in 1966. He obtained a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in law at the University of Lisbon and holds a PhD in contemporary history from the Catholic University of Portugal. He was a teacher at the Faculty of Law and teaches now at NOVA FCSH. He is adviser to the Constitutional Court, in unpaid leave, and was consultant to the President of the Republic for political affairs. He is the author of several books and articles in political science, constitutional law and contemporary history. He represents FFMS on the Board of the Portuguese Foundation Center.

Journalist, she was born in 1986 and grew up in Sobral de Monte Agraço. She has a Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and a Master’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from Nova University Lisbon. She has been working at Sábado magazine since 2008. She also worked with Notícias magazine and the Diário Económico. She did a postgraduate degree in Human Rights at the University of Coimbra in 2016.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree and PhD in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon. He is a full professor at the FLUL Department of Philosophy. Among his most relevant works are: «History of Portuguese Philosophical Thought» (dir.) 5 vols; «Portugal as a Problem», 4 vols.; «The Idea of Nature in Portugal in the 18th century»; and, with Rámon Gutiérrez, «Iberian School of Peace: the Critical Consciousness of the Conquest and Colonisation of America».

Economist, specialist in housing and tourism. She taught at the University of Madeira for 10 years and worked as a researcher at ISEG.
She wrote the book "Tourism in Portugal" (2016) and is co-author of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos study "The real estate market in Portugal" (2022).
She has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Nova University Lisbon, a Master's degree in Economics and European Studies from the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (ISEG) and a PhD in Economics from ISEG. She is a contributor to the "Tempestade perfeita" programme on Rádio Observador and a columnist for the online newspaper "Eco".

Miguel Morgado is an Assistant Professor at the Lisbon Catholic University Institute of Political Studies. He has a PhD in Political Science, a Master’s degree in Political Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Between 2011 and 2015, he was Political Advisor to the Prime Minister and member of Parliament between 2015-2019. He has written several articles and book chapters, as well as annotated translations of classic works of political theory, such as Montesquieu, Do Espírito das Leis (Edições 70, 2011), Francis Bacon, Nova Atlântida e a Grande Instauração (Edições 70, 2008), John Locke, Dois Tratados do Governo Civil (Edições 70, 2007), Leo Strauss, Direito Natural e História (Edições 70, 2009). Each of these Portuguese editions was introduced by an extensive interpretative essay. He is also the author of several monographs: Sovereignty. Of its Uses and Abuses in Political Life (Dom Quixote, 2021), O Conservadorismo do Futuro e outros ensaios (Edições 70, 2017), Autoridade (FFMS, 2010), A Aristocracia e os seus críticos (Edições 70, 2008). Together with Rui Ramos, he co-authored the collective work “Linhas Direitas. Política e Cultura à Direita” (Dom Quixote, 2019). Together with Hugo Chelo, he co-authored Histórias e Fragmentos da Arte Empresarial (Actual Editora, 2013). He also participated in the book by João Carlos Espada, Miguel Morgado, and Hugo Chelo, Riqueza e Pobreza (Principia, 2001).

Miguel Nogueira de Brito
Lawyer, Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he obtained his doctorate. He taught political science, constitutional law and fundamental rights at undergraduate and master's level, specialising in general administrative law and public procurement.
He was an advisor to the President of the Constitutional Court. He has published several books, including «The Constituent Constitution» (2000), «The Justification of Private Property in a Constitutional Democracy »(2008) and, co-authored with Pedro Múrias, «Same-Sex Marriage: Yes or No?» (2008), as well as several articles, mainly on constitutional law and political philosophy.

Maria Luísa Lima
She is a full professor in the Department of Social Psychology and the Psychology of Organisations at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon, where she has taught since 2004. She does her research work at the Research and Social Intervention Centre at the same university.
She has coordinated several research projects throughout her career, having specialised in the application of Social Psychology to health and environmental issues. One of the topics that she looked into more closely is the question of risk perception, from the social factors that affect it to its consequences for public participation in decision-making processes.
Between 2006 and 2010, she chaired the Portuguese Association of Psychology. She was a member of the Scientific Council of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Foundation for Science and Technology.
She has written several books, such as «Social Psychology of Health, Volumes 1 and 2» (Edições Sílabo) and the essay «Ourselves and Others: The Power of Social Ties», published by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos.

She is Rector of Iscte – Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, where she headed the Scientific Council and Researcher at Iscte’s Centre for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte).
She was Minister of Education between 2005 and 2009 and chaired the Board of Directors of the Luso-American Development Foundation between 2010 and 2013.
She chaired the Science and Technology Observatory of the Ministry of Science and Technology. She has published several works, especially on the sociology of professions, information society and public policy.
