Founded in 1916, Brookings Institution's work focuses primarily on the study of the social sciences, fiscal policy, the quality of democracy and foreign policy.
It is a private, non-profit organisation whose mission is to conduct in-depth, non-partisan research to improve policies and governance at regional, national and global levels.
It is a partner of the Foundation in the study «Europe’s energy transition: Balancing the trilemma», which included the publication of a series of policy papers on this topic.

Associate professor of Economics at Iscte – University Institute of Lisbon, where she previously served as Director of Sustainability.
Her work focuses on environmental issues, including water resources management, energy and sustainability.
She has advised a range of public bodies and served on the Commission for Green Tax Reform.
A former Vice-President of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, she has also logged over 2,000 observations on iNaturalist.

Professor of Landscape Architecture at the Lisbon School of Agriculture (ISA). She got her PhD in 1993 and is a professor at the same school. She directed the Botanic Garden in Ajuda. She designed the amphitheatre and has been in charge of restoration work at Quinta das Lágrimas since 2004. She is an international member of ICOMOS (UNESCO) on the International Scientific Committee on Cultural Landscapes. She founded the Historical Gardens Association in 2002. She is a corresponding member of the Academy of Fine Arts (2016) and was honoured by France with the «Ordre d’Officier des Arts et des Lettres» (2013). She also received a Special Commendation from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was the 68th US Secretary of State between 2013 and 2017. As the country's chief diplomat, he defined the State Department's strategy for nuclear non-proliferation, combating radical extremism and climate change. His tenure was distinguished by his success in negotiating the nuclear agreement with Iran and the Paris Agreement. Between 1985 and 2013, he was the senator for Massachusetts and between 2009 and 2013 he chaired the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He served in the US Navy, with two tours of duty in Vietnam, for which he received a Silver Star and a Bronze Star for bravery in combat, as well as three Purple Hearts. He graduated from Yale University and specialised in law at Boston College Law School. Author of the bestsellers «A Call to Service: My Vision for a Better America and This Moment on Earth», Secretary of State John Kerry published a memoir entitled «Every Day Is Extra» in 2018. He is currently a Distinguished Fellow for Global Affairs at Yale University, as well as a Visiting Distinguished Statesman at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

A Resident Researcher at the National Geographic Society, Sylvia Earle founded the Deep Search Foundation, is Chair of the Advisory Board of the Harte Research Institute and the Marine Science and Technology Foundation and was Lead Researcher for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). She has authored over 175 publications, led over 100 expeditions, logged over 7,000 hours of diving and has received over 100 awards in the US and abroad. A graduate of Florida State University, with a master's and doctorate from Duke University, her research focuses on the ecology and conservation of marine ecosystems and the development of deep-water access technologies. Time named her a «Hero of the Planet» and the Library of Congress a «Living Legend». In 2009, she received the TED Prize.

Science journalist for radio, television and the press. Trained at Columbia University in New York, NOVA and the Haute École ICHEC in Brussels, he was also Communications Coordinator at ISCTE-IUL. He has received awards from the Association for the Promotion and Development of the Information Society and the online magazine «Ciência Hoje».

He has a PhD in Agricultural Economics and a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Lisbon (UL) School of Agriculture (ISA),. He was a visiting professor at the Food Research Institute, Stanford University and professor of Economics and Agricultural Policy, ISA, UL and has been emeritus professor, ISA, UL since 2008.
He was a founding partner and is a scientific coordinator of AGROGES (1989). Member of the groups of experts for the reform of CAP (Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union) and a member of the team responsible for the Carbon Neutral Roadmap 2050.

Photojournalist, World Press Photo award in the Daily Life category (2013). He began his career in the «Correio da Manhã» newspaper and has also worked at the Global Imagens agency, which distributes photos for newspapers such as the «Jornal de Notícias», «Diário de Notícias» and «O Jogo».
He was named Iberian-American photographer of the year at POY LATAM in 2017 and has also won several other awards.
His interest in the area of human rights has led him to document important stories, such as the albinos in Africa and illegal factories in Bangladesh for The New York Times, a newspaper he works with. On his most recent journey, he travelled across Africa on an electric bicycle, from Cape Town in South Africa to Nairobi in Kenya, a total of 6,363 km. His goal was to promote sustainability and call attention to climate change on that continent.
