He has worked as a professor in the Department of Philosophy at the Federal University of Ouro Preto, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil since 2007. He is the director of the electronic magazine «Criticism on the Net» and has written a number of books, including «Philosophy Live», «Naturalised Essentialism», «All the Dreams of the World and Other Essays», «Elementary Logic: Reasoning, Language and Reality» and «The Existence of God: The Essential». He also writes philosophy books for secondary education.
He is a founding member of the Centre for the Teaching of Philosophy at the Portuguese Society of Philosophy.
He has a PhD in Philosophy from the Department of Philosophy at the University of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities, he has a Master’s degree in Philosophy of Language and Consciousness from the same university and he is a PhD student of Philosophy at King’s College London, UK – where he taught Logic and Ethics.

David Justino
He is a full professor, emeritus, at Nova University Lisbon. He was a member of the Portuguese parliament, Minister of Education in the 15th Constitutional Government (2002-2004) and President of the National Council of Education (2013-2017).
He has a PhD in Sociology from Nova University Lisbon, a postgraduate degree in Economic History and a Bachelor's degree in Economics.
He received the Gulbenkian Science Award 1987 (Social and Human Sciences) for his work «The Formation of the National Economic Area. Portugal 1810-1913» and the Literary Grémio Award 2017 for the publication of his work «Fontismo. Liberalism in an Illiberal Society» (LeYa). He recently published «Essays on the Day After» (Almedina).
He was decorated by the Presidency of the Republic with the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry and the Grand Cross of the Order of Public Instruction.

Carmo Seabra
Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Nova School of Business and Economics at Nova University Lisbon. She was Administrator of the National Communications Authority and Minister of Education in the 16th Constitutional Government. Her research has been in the area of Microeconomic Policy, in particular Economic Regulation. In recent years she has done research on Education Economics, co-authoring several articles in this area, including retention, the efficiency of publicly funded private schools, the impact of the publication of school rankings, sampling problems in PISA, decisive factors for success in higher education.

Carlos Oliveira Cruz
He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geo-Resources at Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon) and a researcher at Civil Engineering Research and Innovation for Sustainability (CERIS). He is an associate editor of the Journal of Management in Engineering and an assistant editor of Competition and Regulation in Network Industries. He has been a consultant in the fields of transport infrastructure planning and management for various public and private entities such as the OECD, the EBRD and international investment funds. He was also a Visiting Professor at the J.F. Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University), where he carried out research into infrastructure management models, an advisor to the Secretary of State for Transport and director of a transport engineering and consultancy company.

Carlos Fiolhais
He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from Goethe University in Germany and he is a full professor of Physics at the University of Coimbra (UC), where he has held various management positions. He founded and directed the Centre for Computational Physics, where he installed the largest and fastest Portuguese supercomputer for scientific calculation. He is the director of UC's Rómulo Ciência Viva Centre and one of Portugal's most important science communicators, with books, textbooks and hundreds of articles published. He has lectured at universities in Brazil and the USA and he was scientific coordinator of the "Knowledge" area of Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos and a member of the Scientific Council of the Foundation for Science and Technology. He chaired the regional board of the Portuguese Physics Society, through which he promoted scientific experimentation activities for school laboratories, created the "Mocho" portal for teaching and promoting science and was a consultant for television programmes. He is a member of the International Forum of Portuguese Researchers. Distinguished with the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator and the Golden Globe for Merit and Excellence in Science (2005), he also received the Ciência Viva Grand Prize (2017) and the José Mariano Gago Award from SPA (2018).

Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Minho, researcher at NIPE and CIPES. She holds a PhD in Economics from the Vrij University of Amsterdam/Tinbergen Institute in the Netherlands. Her research interests lie at the intersection of Economics of Education and Spatial Economics, particularly in the student decision-making process.

She was born in Valpaços in 1980. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, a Master’s degree in Multimedia Education and a PhD in Science Teaching and Dissemination from the University of Porto School of Sciences (FCUP). She has published articles in national and international journals on Chemistry, Teaching and Educational Technologies. She has given presentations and lectures in the area of chemistry teaching and computers applied to teaching at schools, congresses and scientific meetings. She is the co-author of textbooks and science books and has helped produce educational software for teaching chemistry and physics.

Armanda Matos
Professor at the University of Coimbra School of Psychology and Education Sciences, where she got her PhD in Psychology. Her research interests focus on the area of digital and media literacy/media education, which she has based most of her writings and scientific projects on, and include topics such as ICT-mediated communication, digital and media skills, cyberbullying, media violence and the mediating role of the school and the family.

Arlindo Oliveira
Full professor at Instituto Superior Técnico. He is president of the Institute of Systems and Computers (INESC), non-executive director at Caixa Geral de Depósitos and a researcher at INESC-ID. He is also a member of the National Council for Science, Technology and Innovation and of the Advisory Board for the European Parliament’s Science and Technology Panel.
He got his Bachelor's degree at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) and completed his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley, in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
He has published three books, which have been translated into several languages, and hundreds of scientific and dissemination articles. He has received several awards and distinctions, including the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa / Santander prize for excellence in research in 2009.

The Vice-Rector of the University of Lisbon was one of the promoters of a unique course in Portugal: the Bachelor’s degree in General Studies, which has been bringing Arts, Literature and Science topics together since 2011, allowing students to choose the subjects that most interest them.
He has a PhD in Anglo-American Studies from the University of Lisbon School of Arts and Humanities, he specialised in English and American Literature, and has a PhD from Brown University. He teaches in the Department of Anglican Studies and on the Literature Theory programme at the School of Arts and Humanities.
In this institution, he was also director and Chairman of the Scientific Council between 2008 and 2013. His professional work, teaching and research, has focused on the Theory of Literature, European and American Modernism, the translation of English and American authors and the dramaturgy of English and Portuguese texts.
He works with the Advanced Literary Studies Laboratory at the Nova School of Social and Human Sciences in Lisbon.
He is a non-executive administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and president of the Independent General Council of RTP.
Among other essays, in 2017, he co-wrote «University as It Should Be» with Miguel Tamen, for Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos.
