Assistant professor in the Department of Economics, Management, Industrial Engineering and Tourism at the University of Aveiro and researcher at CIPES (Higher Education Policy Research Centre). He has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Porto and a PhD in Business Sciences from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester. He works with GOVCOPP – Research Unit in Governance, Competitiveness and Public Policies at the University of Aveiro and is an affiliate of the Global Labour Organisation. His research focuses on Labour Economics, Education and Higher Education.

Hugo Carvalho
Hugo Carvalho is an engineer and has built his career in the areas of innovation and technology, more recently venturing into the field of artificial intelligence. He was a member of the Portuguese parliament between 2019 and 2024. On the invitation of the government, he led the Taskforce for Licensing Renewable Energy Projects (EMER 2030). He was President of the Portuguese National Youth Council and a member of the Social and Economic Council and of the National Board of Education.

She is Associate Professor at ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, University of Lisbon, where she obtained her PhD in Economic and Organisational Sociology and coordinated the «Break Even» project (2014-2016), focused on promoting gender equality in companies.
She is currently coordinating the project «Women on Boards: An Integrative Approach», funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education (MCTES).
She is a PhD researcher at the Centre for Research in Economic and Organisational Sociology, where she coordinates the Organisations, Work, Employment and Gender research line.
She was President of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality in 2010, a body to which she remains attached as a member of the advisory board in her capacity as an expert in women's rights, non-discrimination and citizenship.
She coordinated the European Sociological Association’s research network «Gender Relations in the Labour Market and the Welfare State» and remains a member of the network's scientific committee. She has served on the board of the European Institute for Gender Equality, the European Union's High-Level Group on Gender Mainstreaming and the Economic and Social Council.

Teresa Casas-Novas
With a Bachelor’s degree in Translation and a Master’s degree in International Education and Development, she was Pedagogical Coordinator in Lisbon and Executive Assistant to the Regional Director of UNICEF WCARO in Dakar. She has worked as an advisor in the area of communication and as a technical and scientific advisor to the National Council. She was responsible for communication and content management on the aQeduto project.

Born in 1942, got is PhD in Mechanical Engineering from IST in 1973. He was among other duties, General Director of Higher Education between 1976 and 1980 World Bank Project of the General Coordinator in Education between 1980 and 1985; President of the National Council of Education 1992-1995; Minister of Education 1995 to 1999; Administrator of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation between 2000 and 2015. He is currently the President of the General Council of the University of Aveiro since 2015. he is also de member of other several institutions. He is the author of several publications in the field of engineering and in the areas of Education and Development Aid. He was awarded the orders of : Military Sant 'Iago of the Sword of Merit and Public Instruction.

He holds a PhD in Economics from the Nova School of Business and Economics (Nova SBE). He is a Full Professor at the University of Coimbra and a member of the Centre for Business and Economics Research (CeBER). He has studied the phenomenon of economic growth in theoretical and empirical terms and has published more than 70 papers in several international journals, including Research Policy, the Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organisation, the Scandinavian Journal of Economics, the Oxford Economic Papers, and Ecological Economics. He has held a number of university management positions, having been a member of the Senate and Scientific Councils, Course Director and Coordinator, Department and Core Chair and Pro-Rector.
He is the coordinator and a member of the judging panel for research and innovation projects funded by public and private foundations. He was one of the economists invited by the President of Portugal to the Post-Troika Portuguese Economy meeting on in 2013 and one of the economists invited by the Prime Minister to analyse the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the economy and the subsequent crisis.

He is a visiting assistant professor at the University of Porto School of Economics and a researcher at CIPES. He has a PhD in Economics from the University of Porto. His research focuses on Philosophy and Economics, History of Economic Thought and Economics of Education.
