Catherine de Vries: (I)Liberal democracy is not that simple

29 min
Watch episode

Is Euroscepticism still a threat to the European Union? Has the pandemic accelerated this discontent or has Brexit acted as a vaccine, preventing other countries from following in the UK's footsteps? To answer these questions is Catherine de Vries in the second program of the series «It's Not That Simple».

The Dutch political scientist analyses some of the current challenges to European Union policy, such as threats to cohesion posed by Russia or the nuclear issues that overshadow Europe's energy transition.

In this interview, conducted by Pedro Pinto, the professor of political science also talks about the rise of populism, the challenges of immigration and other tests of cohesion between member states.

«It's Not That Simple» brings you today's big issues, simplified by leading experts.

Because in a time of dizzying information, sometimes you have to pause before you can understand. Because not everything is so simple.
