Pia Mancini and Daniel Innerarity: Majority rule vs deliberation in the public space

53 min
Ver episódio

Is the majority always right? Does information technology promote rational discourse? Are social networks democratic?

The digital age has created a new public sphere, opening opportunities to fully realize democracy. However, it also brings significant risks that threaten the survival of this political regime. Furthermore, this new public space must include protest movements, whether spontaneous or organised, local or global. Political scientist and activist Pia Manccini and philosopher Daniel Innerarity discuss the new public space ushered in the digital age.

On the one hand, it could contribute to greater democracy; on the other, however, it could also constitute a threat to democracy itself.
