What will be left of the European funds?

50 min
Watch episode

Portugal is going to receive the biggest wave of funds ever: around 17 million euros a day over the next few years. Will the country manage to use them to reverse the trend of economic growth? Watch the documentary here, a Foundation/RTP co-production.
This documentary examines the country from north to south and from the mainland to the islands to see how European funds are being used. How have the funds contributed or how are they contributing to an innovative Portugal, and what indications do they give regarding the country's future sustainability? However, this programme also analyses the less positive cases,, as well as the lessons learned and how these must be incorporated into a new vision for the future.

This documentary features input from José Manuel Durão Barroso (Former President of the European Commission), ElisaFerreira (European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms), Joaquim Oliveira Martins (Former Deputy Director of OECD Regional and Urban Policy), António Cunha (President of CCDR Norte), Fernando Alexandre (Economist and Researcher at the University of Minho), Carlos Oliveira Cruz (Infrastructure Specialist and Researcher at IST), Renato Rosa (Researcher in Environmental Economics at NOVA SBE), Susana Coroado (President of Transparency and Integrity) and Nuno Santos (President of the Agency for Development and Cohesion).
